Context
Casinos are a very peculiar vertical market, which embodies many of the issues shared by other sectors: they include many different environments with their related issues.
The environments to be protected include: exits and entrances, parking lots, gambling halls, cash desks, catering areas, wardrobes, offices, receptions, etc.
Due to their nature and characteristics - such as poor lighting, high ceilings, presence of microphones and endless monitors - protecting this kind of sites is more complicated.
The majority of spaces is set-up to be operational 24/7/365, with a high customer and staff traffic.
In addition, with the current Coronavirus emergency, managing access to gambling rooms is strategic and necessary to protect the Customers and employees’ safety and avoid gatherings, while maintaining a pleasant and inviting environment for gamblers.
The collaboration with Axitea
The Saint-Vincent Casino - one of the only three casinos in Italy, and the only one in Valle d’Aosta, Saint-Vincent - opened on 29 March 1947 in the halls of the Grand Hotel Billia.
The Casino de la Vallée in Saint-Vincent has been for many years the most important casino in Europe.
Just like any other casino, the Casino de la Vallée is exposed to the risk of illegal gambling, sleight of hand and other fraud attempts by customers; a surveillance system surely provides additional control, and also helps solve controversies in case of a dispute.
Casino de la Vallée is one of Axitea’s historical clients, and it is currently provided with maintenance, videosurveillance and (as of recently) biosecurity services.

The project
The solution implemented by Axitea to help Casino de la Vallée carry out its activities following the Covid-19 emergency, includes autonomous body temperature measurement and body temperature/PPE (face mask) detection presence with a video thermal scanner at the entrance.
The high level of accuracy of the body temperature measuring system signals only actual cases. As the system does not record any biometric data or image, it is fully compliant with GDPR regulations.
Tailor-made solution
In addition, the Casino is also equipped with one of Axitea’s custom made solutions, actualized in a complex and capillary videosurveillance system: over 600 cameras monitor accesses, gambling tables, hallways, slot machines, etc. in order to ensure transparency and safety to employees and Customers.
Footage is monitored in real time from the Casino control room, which is frequently involved in case of disputes or complaints.
Given the large number of cameras installed and the site sensitivity, Axitea periodically services the network, to keep the entire system under check and ensure its correct operation.
