Milan, 23 February 2023 – According to the World Economic Forum’s latest Global Security Outlook, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (20 per cent), increased adoption of cloud technology (19 per cent) and advances in user identity and access management (15 per cent) will have the greatest influence on corporate cyber risk strategies over the next two years. The protection of corporate information assets therefore requires a two-pronged development approach: not only investment in advanced technologies, but also an overhaul of the corporate organisational processes.

In order to intervene in the prevention of cyber attacks and relieve employees of the responsibility for proper digital hygiene, Axitea has formulated the Identity Access Governance service that combines technology and consultancy skills to design, manage and monitor access to corporate data.

“In a context of increasing threats, companies must adopt a security management approach whereby authorisations to access and use the organisation’s IT applications are based on a defined role model,” commented Marco Bavazzano, CEO of Axitea. “The implementation of an Identity Access Governance framework is a key step in a company’s IT security management, as it combines user behaviour analysis solutions with the management aspect of profile and identity assignment, to optimally implement the need-to-know concept.”

Axitea’s Identity Access Governance service therefore intervenes within organisational processes, helping to define the rules for managing access to applications and corporate work tools, tailored to the needs and structure of the individual company. These rules establish access privileges for each user in relation to certain information, so as to protect the security of the data as much as possible. All this while respecting the principles dictated by current privacy and data protection regulations.

With Axitea, companies can protect and manage their data in 4 steps:

  • Security Accountability: certification that the company implements the legal provisions and handles sensitive information and personal data securely.
  • Assessment and threat intelligence: identification of procedural and organisational gaps; of perimeter vulnerabilities that allow unauthorised access or that feed the exfiltration of corporate information; and verification of any exfiltrations that have already occurred and can be identified through scanning in OSINT environment, in Deep/Dark Web.
  • Identity Hygene and corporate user profiling: integration of authentication and access functions on a single platform to orchestrate all corporate users and track the privileges assigned to each user through a unique ‘footprint’.
  • Constant risk monitoring: continuous measurement of corporate security performance through sustainable indicators tailored to the customer’s specificities.

The adoption of Identity Access Governance also opens up the possibility of automating user provisioning to manage the onboarding and offboarding processes with minimal error. In addition, security can be further enhanced with the introduction of UEBA (User Entity Behaviour Analytics) solutions: advanced platforms for analysing user behaviour in real time that, through Machine Learning models and algorithms, update daily to outline the profile of each user and report deviations from defined patterns (suspicious behaviour, account compromise, security policy violations). Finally, the activation of a SOC (Security Operation Center) facilitates the monitoring of risks and allows each event to be properly managed.
